- Pre reading plan
Brain storm: first chose the person in the book you are going to do research on.
Get together with other classmates that have chosen the same character.
Discuss what you want to know and what you already know about the character and complete a Know, Want to know, Learn (KWL) chart.
Make an outline for your research paper based on this character.
Applying:
Do some research on the character you have chosen.
State the purpose of this paper. What do you want to know? Why did you choose this person ?
Analyzing:
SQ4R:
Survey) Read about the person you have chosen from this book.
Question) Write down some questions you want to know more about.
Read) Read on! And do some extra research!
Recite) Re state the questions and the answers you have found for them.
Relate) Make connections to the present about these people in our past.
Review) Re look over what you have found and double check spelling and grammar.
Next:
Looking back to your first KWL chart, what have you learned ? What have you learned about Autism ?

-How are people alike and different from the person they chose from the book
